Simon Coates

It is with great regret that Sumo Wagyu wishes to announce the passing of Dr Simon Coates, the founder of Sumo Wagyu. Simon passed away suddenly on the 6th November 2020.

As many of you would know, Simon was deeply passionate about Wagyu cattle and had dedicated most of his life to the Wagyu Industry. In ongoing recognition of his service and contribution to the Industry, The Australian Wagyu Association has announced the ‘Dr Simon Coates Scholarship for Veterinary and Reproductive Science’.

It was Simon’s dearest wish that Sumo Wagyu would continue business as normal, and that his family would continue their involvement. The team at Sumo Wagyu wishes to assure you, our customers and partners, that we will continue to serve you with the same commitment, high standards and values that we have always had.
